What you'll learn
- Understand matrix notation: identify the dimensions of a matrix, access entries by row and column index, and identify special matrices (square, identity, zero)
- Perform matrix multiplication for compatible matrices, understanding it as a sequence of dot products of rows and columns
- Write a system of two linear equations as the matrix equation Ax = b, identifying A (coefficient matrix), x (variable vector), and b (constant vector)
- Convert between a system of equations and its matrix equation form, in both directions
- Explain why the matrix equation form is useful for representing multiple systems with the same coefficient matrix
