What you'll learn
- Read f⁻¹(b) from a table of f by finding the row where f(a) = b and reporting a
- Read f⁻¹(b) from a graph of f by finding the point where y = b on the graph and reading the corresponding x-value
- Construct a table of f⁻¹ by swapping the input and output columns of a table for f
- Sketch the graph of f⁻¹ by reflecting the graph of f over y = x
- Determine whether the inverse function exists from the table or graph (no repeated outputs)
- Interpret inverse values in context: if f(t) gives population at time t, then f⁻¹(P) gives the time when population reaches P
