HSF.IF.C.7.a: Graph linear and quadratic functions and show intercepts, maxima, and minima.
What you'll learn
- Graph linear functions from slope-intercept, point-slope, and standard forms, labeling x-intercept and y-intercept
- Graph quadratic functions from standard form by finding the vertex, axis of symmetry, y-intercept, and x-intercepts (when they exist)
- Graph quadratic functions from vertex form y = a(x - h)² + k by identifying the vertex directly and determining the direction of opening
- Graph quadratic functions from factored form y = a(x - r)(x - s) by reading the roots directly
- Determine whether a quadratic has a maximum or minimum based on the sign of the leading coefficient
- Identify and label all key features: intercepts, vertex (maximum or minimum), axis of symmetry, and direction of opening
